Busan, yet again.

The first weekend in November we were off to Busan again. There was a Nerd party at a club near Haeundae Beach and we decided to make a weekend of it. One of the things I love the most about Korea is the cheap public transport. Taking a bus to Busan is super cheap and takes only one hour.

After we arrived in Busan we went straight to the motel to book our rooms, but they were still cleaning the rooms so we had to come back later. With a few hours to kill we headed to the beach.

Haeundae Beach
On the way to the beach there is a wall with some nice photos and photo-ops.

Madame Butterfly (a.k.a Lindie)

The motel is hidden somewhere between those buidlings.
Busan Aquarium is on the beach, or should I say in or under the beach. The entrance is above ground, but the whole aquarium itself is underground. There were some really freaky sea animals inside.

Just your normal everyday crab.

Where is Nemo?

Now this is not your normal everyday crab.
These things are ginormous. If I had to go into a tank with one of these guys they would spend weeks cleaning the tank and the crab.

Jean risked her hand to show the how big they actually are compared
to people.

Little rock fishy.

I am not sure what this is. Probably also a type of crab. It was a little
camera shy.

This poor group of people didn't see the octopus coming. Sadly they didn't
survive.

This is one huge ass fish.

The infamous humped-back shark.

Lindie found Nemo!!!

Car aquarium.
This was quite cool. The took a Hyundai i30 and turned it into a fish tank. I wonder how long it took them to seal the whole thing.

Jean: "They're not moving!"
Jean thought these two 'penguins' were real and found it fascinating that they didn't move at all. We teased her the whole day about it.

Unfortunately, something very sad happen. A little Korean kid found the next exhibition a little too interesting and got too close.
The flamingos got irritaded and called in the jaguar for back-up.

The jaguar was busy getting a tan and called the anaconda.

Before the kid had a chance to sun away the anaconda had him and within
seconds he was devoured.

The anaconda had one super fast metabolism. Within seconds the kid, or
what was left of him, made his appearance again.

Next stop: Shinsegae Department Store. This is the biggest department store in the whole world. It even kicked Macy's butt. On our way there the reason behind the strange Korean parking habbits was made clear.

This is the entrance at the subway. The main entrance even have
valet parking.

The main reason why we came here was because of the ice-skating rink inside.  After an hour or so of skating we found ourselves some traditional Korean food and stuffed ourselves: Burger King! After Shinsegae we went back to the motel to book our rooms.

On the Sunday we went to the Busan Museum of Modern Art. Seems to me that anything is art these days.
They had some of the weirdest exhibitions I've ever seen. I'm not even going to post all the photo's.

This was one room filled with these creations, probably something
to do with evolution.

The artist of this one took his own hair and got creative. Little nasty if you
ask me, but hey, it's art, I think.
Speaking of nasty, the next one takes the cake. A red room filled with golden bird cages hanging from the roof, a few rubbish piles and photos of rubbish piles on the walls and a stuffed dead cat lying on the floor.

Tweety was nowhere to be seen.

Looks like Tweety drank some cyanide before Sylvester caught him.

This chess board was on of my favourites.

Insects set in glass.

I was glad to see they had some normal exhibitions as well.

This one was beautiful: Children from Alaska.

This one was a video that was on a loop. Something about it was
kind of freaky.

To be honest, the museum was kind of depressing, probably because I didn't understand half of what was in there. So after the museum we were off to TGI Fridays to get some food before we returned to Ulsan. Lindie and I went to the balcony to take some photos.

The entrance to the aquarium is the building on the left.

We didn't expect to see this in Korea. A transgender club. The name alone made me laugh.
If you say it slowly in Afrikaans it sounds like what I would say if I found myself in a transgender club by accident.

Instead of taking a bus back to Ulsan, we took a train. It took the same time as the bus to get here and it was way more comfortable.
